It’s our 17th Anniversary!!!!

We are celebrating our 17th Anniversary this tonight!

The evening kicks off at 8pm so come by for supper and settle in for a wonderful celebration! We have flutes of Gancia Brut Prosecco, delicious canapes specially prepared by our new Executive Chef Matt Costain (Press Gang / RCR) and we have the talents of one of our all time favorite Halifax musicians, Bill Stevenson on piano! Bill will be accompanied by Paul Vienneau on bass and Brock Caldwell on drums.

In other news, today’s soup is a vibrant Chili of medium spice. Our lunch features are a Warm Mushroom and Arugula salad or a Chicken Club on a Kaiser Roll with fries.. For dessert we have yummy Apple Dumplings. See you soon!

Two Art Openings AND Jazz!

Well, The Economy Shoe Shop is the place to be tonight!

For the past 11 years Bonita Aalders has had her grade 12 art students at J.L. Isley High School examine the history of shoes and examine their cultural relevance within different societies. Each student then creates their own shoe sculpture with a variety of concepts and materials. Year after year these shoe sculptures amaze and astound us here at The Shoe. Come by at 7pm for some snacks and a viewing.

Also opening tonight is Michael Lewis’ show in The Shoe.

Michael Lewis is the original and only muralist The Economy Shoe Shop has ever known. You familiar with his reproductions so carefully placed in the nooks and crannies of The Shoe over the last 16 years.

Now at this change of era as the walls of The Diamond Bar come tumbling down, the Diamond Juke Box finds it’s new home in the Seahorse Tavern and the sunlight comes streaming in to every corner, Michael is returning to adorn the walls with his own works. As a artist associated with the Hydrostone Gallery you can view his work here. Elsewise, the rarity in being able to view Michael’s work is entirely a part of the mystique in owning a piece of Michael’s work. If you buy only one piece this year or even in your lifetime…

And as if that wasn’t enough excitement for one night, following the art openings, Monday Night Jazz in The Shoe kicks off at 9:30pm. Running consistently for nearly 17 years, we bring you the sweetest Halifax Jazz every Monday night with no admission fee. Come early, stay late!

So a little chill in the air but the buds are beginning to burst and springtime is surely taking her hold on our fair city!

Today’s soup is Mulligatawny and our most excellent feature dish is a Tzatziki & Chicken Flatbread Sandwich with a side bowl of soup. We also have a vegan friendly Broccoli Penne Olio that is both colourful and flavourful.

Tonight, of course, is Monday Night Jazz in The Shoe! Tonight’s guest is Geordie Haley and as always, no cover fee!

Today’s feature food dish is so amazing I would be surprised if you ordered two! Garlic & Ricotta Grilled Cheese Flatbread Sandwich with a side of Creamy Tomato & Cilantro Soup. (Guess our Soup du Jour!) We also have some pretty yummy Carrot Cake here for you!

Every Friday night at 10pm we highlight the best our local talent pool had to offer at no admission fee to you! Furthermore, we lower the price of McAuslan Apricot Wheat Ale and that’s just regular Shoe Shop hospitality for you!
